When will the rewards ship?

We currently estimate that physical rewards will begin shipping in October. Digital rewards may be delivered a week or two prior to this.

How much will shipping cost, and when will the shipping fee be charged?

Shipping costs are not included in your pledge. Final shipping fees will be calculated after the Kickstarter campaign ends based on your selected rewards, add-ons, package weight, and delivery destination. Estimated shipping ranges may be shared on the campaign page, but the final shipping charge will be confirmed later.

If applicable, any import duties, customs fees, taxes, or related charges required by your country’s customs authorities are the backer’s responsibility.

What happens if my package is delayed, lost, or damaged during shipping?

Shipping and delivery can sometimes be affected by factors outside our control, including manufacturing delays, supply chain disruptions, customs processing, shipping carrier issues, or force majeure events. If there are significant delays, we’ll do our best to keep participants informed and continue working to deliver rewards as soon as reasonably possible.

Once your reward has been shipped and handed over to the carrier, responsibility for the package transfers to the recipient. While we may assist with shipment issues where possible, we cannot guarantee or take responsibility for delays, lost packages, or damage that occurs during transit.

How will digital rewards be delivered, and what rights do I have to use them?

Digital rewards will be delivered via the pledge manager. Unless otherwise stated, digital rewards are licensed, not sold, and are provided for personal use only and cannot be transferred, shared, resold, or commercially exploited. This means you receive a personal, non-commercial usage right, unless otherwise stated. All related intellectual property rights remain owned by us or our licensors.

What happens if unexpected events affect the campaign or reward delivery?

Sometimes events outside our reasonable control, such as natural disasters, pandemics, war, civil unrest, government actions, supplier issues, supply chain disruptions, or shipping carrier failures, may impact production or delivery timelines. If this happens, we’ll keep backers informed, take reasonable steps to reduce the impact where possible, and continue working to resume fulfilment as soon as we reasonably can.

If an unexpected event continues for more than 12 months and we’re unable to resume fulfilment, we’ll offer refunds to backers to the extent that funds remain available.

Will VAT, sales tax, customs, or duties be charged?

Taxes, VAT, customs, and duties depend on your country and local rules. Where applicable, VAT or tax may be collected in the pledge manager. If taxes or import charges are not collected upfront, they may be due upon delivery depending on your country.

Can I add extra items or add-ons after the campaign?

Yes. After the campaign ends, you will be able to add eligible extras in the pledge manager before your order is locked. Any add-ons added after the campaign will be charged through the pledge manager. Note that the price may be slightly higher in the pledge manager compared to during the campaign.

Can I change or update my shipping address later?

Yes. You will be able to update your shipping address in the pledge manager until addresses are locked for fulfillment. Once orders are locked, packed, or shipped, we may no longer be able to change the address. Please make sure your final address is correct before the pledge manager deadline.

Can a reward be changed or replaced?

In some cases, yes. If a reward becomes unavailable or impractical to deliver, we may replace it with an alternative reward of equal or greater value. If a substitution is necessary, we’ll notify affected backers in advance. You’ll also have a reasonable opportunity to request a refund instead, and any replacement reward will not be materially worse than the original reward offered.

Can I upgrade, downgrade, or change my pledge after backing?

During the campaign, you can adjust your pledge directly through Kickstarter. After the campaign, available upgrades and add-ons can usually be handled through the pledge manager. Downgrades or cancellations may be limited once funds have been collected, production has begun, or orders have been locked.

Are stretch goals included automatically?

Unlocked stretch goals will be included as described on the campaign page. Some stretch goals may apply to all physical backers, some may apply only to specific tiers, and some may be available as add-ons. Each stretch goal will clearly state who receives it.

What is your refund policy?

Refund requests may be considered in certain situations, such as if we’re unable to fulfil your selected reward, cannot ship to your region, or where other exceptional circumstances apply. Refund requests are generally more likely to be accommodated before pledge manager orders are locked and before production or fulfilment costs have been committed. Once production has started, digital content has been delivered, or physical rewards have entered fulfilment, refunds may no longer be available.

Please note that Kickstarter pledges help fund the production process and are not the same as standard retail purchases or pre-orders. As with most crowdfunding campaigns, delays can happen, and refunds are not typically available solely because a backer changes their mind or because delivery takes longer than originally estimated.

Any refund decisions will be made in good faith and are subject to the availability of remaining campaign funds at the time the request is reviewed. If a refund is issued, our obligations relating to that pledge will be considered satisfied.

What should I do if my reward arrives damaged or defective?

If your reward arrives with a material defect, please contact us in writing within 14 calendar days of receiving it and include clear photos showing the issue. We’ll review the case and, where appropriate, provide a replacement or issue a refund at our discretion.

Will Cradle of the Gods be available to purchase in retail?

This Collector’s Edition is a Kickstarter exclusive and won’t be available in retail stores in the future.

We aim to deliver a high-quality physical product at the lowest possible cost. Focusing on a single item, produced to the highest manufacturing standard, is the most effective approach for this.

How did the several artists share the work in the graphic novel?

Simone D’Armini was the first artist we teamed up with on the project. As the story evolved across different timelines, we brought in other artists to take on those sections. Each choice was driven by narrative intent. Working with multiple artists strengthened the story, added perspective, and brought distinct visual voices to the world of Cradle of the Gods.

How do the sketch rewards work--are they already drawn?

The pencil or ink sketches don’t exist yet. They will be made bespoke for each backer who pledges that tier. They will be drawn by Simone on high-quality Cradle of the Gods paper.

Can you tell me more about the Ink Commission? How does it differ from the Ink Sketch?

Backers will discuss which character they would like for their commission. The artist will first send them a sketch and then proceed with inking.

The Ink Commissions are larger and more detailed than the Ink Sketches.

What does having my name featured in the Collector's Edition entail?

Backers eligible for this reward will have the option of their chosen name printed in the Collector’s Edition as a thanks for helping bring the project to life.

After the campaign ends, we’ll collect the name you’d like us to use through the pledge manager. This can be your real name, preferred name, nickname, or another appropriate name of your choosing.

Note that names must be suitable for publication. We reserve the right to reject or edit names that are offensive, abusive, hateful, explicit, misleading, infringe on someone else’s rights, or are otherwise unsuitable for inclusion in the final product.

Please make sure your name is submitted before the deadline stated in the pledge manager. If no name is provided in time, we may use the name associated with your Kickstarter account or omit the credit.

What pledge manager are you using?

We’re using BackerKit as our pledge manager. Once the Kickstarter campaign is over and we are ready to send out surveys, you will have the option of adding additional items and inputting your shipping address.

Do I get any intellectual property or usage rights by backing the campaign?

No. All intellectual property rights related to the project, campaign content, and rewards remain owned by us or our licensors. Backing the campaign or receiving a reward does not transfer any ownership rights unless explicitly stated in the reward description. Please also do not reproduce, distribute, resell, or create derivative works based on the campaign content or rewards without our prior written permission.

Can I request an invoice for my pledge?

Yes. Upon request, we can issue an invoice after the campaign has been successfully funded. The invoice will be issued by FunPlus International AG, adba Studio Ellipsis and will include the applicable payment details, VAT, import duties, local taxes, and other relevant charges. If there is any difference between the information on the invoice and the FAQ regarding taxes, duties, or payment details, the invoice will take precedence.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
